Forensic Expert Witness
Dr. Jane K. McNaught has been in private practice for over 35 years and is a locally and nationally recognized board certified psychological forensic expert. Over the course of her practice, she has worked with Defense and Plaintiff attorneys and has also been a Court appointed expert. Dr. McNaught has testified in District, Federal, and military court, both within the State of Minnesota as well as other states across the U.S. Dr. McNaught has been trained to use psychological tests and other evaluative procedures to assess emotional functioning within the context of legal issues. Administering more than 1700 psychological test batteries, Dr. McNaught has testified on over 500 occasions as a forensic expert regarding adults and children in the areas of civil, criminal, and family law. In addition, Dr. McNaught has been hired and qualified as an expert in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by both the United States Army as well as The United States Navy. Dr. McNaught’s training, and more than 35 years of experience conducting forensic evaluations, has enabled her to become an experienced and effective witness.
Dr. McNaught also provides case consultation as well as the critique of other professional’s forensic evaluations. When asked to critique the work of other evaluators, Dr. McNaught addresses: the current standards of practice and ethical considerations for forensic psychological evaluations; the use of psychological testing in forensic evaluations; assessing the plaintiff’s credibility in comparison to collateral records; and the review of underlying documents used to substantiate forensic opinions.
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. McNaught specializes in two areas: the treatment of adults and children who have experienced the trauma of sexual and/or physical abuse; and adults and children involved in the divorce process. Other areas of her clinical practice include treatment for Depression and Anxiety as well as situational stress related to life transitions. Additionally, Dr. McNaught works with children who have been diagnosed with ADHD as well as other behavioral problems. In cases involving children, Dr. McNaught works with both the children and their parents to address these concerns.
